- Cleveland BrownΓÇÖs
- number one draft pick in
- 1957. That first season, he led the NFL in
- rushing and set a single-game rushing
- record when he carried the ball 31 times for
- 237 yards and four touchdowns. (The current
- record is held by Walter Payton.) Jim was
- named the NFL Rookie of the Year. In 1963,
- when the NFL season was only 14 games
- long, he became the first runner in history to
- pass the mile mark (he rushed for 1,883
- yards) in a single season. In 1964, JimΓÇÖs
- 114 rushing yards helped the Browns win
- the NFL Championship Game over the
- Baltimore Colts.
